Draft Beer, Not Boys!
The Rowen Family

The Rowens were created for the Build + Share neighbourhood project – The Summer of Love. They are the token Protest Family.
Meet Havelock Stanley Rowen.

He is an angsty artiste, no one can possibly understand his creative genius. He is hot-headed and excitable, and jumps at the chance to be anti-anything. Havelock is convinced the governmen is trying to control their lives through technology, and up until recently had most things banned from their house. He has only just relented into purchasing a second-hand television set when his favourite daughter Cassidy convinced him it was easier to stay abreast of world events that way.
Havelock would like to keep people aware of the conspiracies and wrong-doings of the Simland government by becoming an Illustrious Author, and often has his nose buried in a book.

Pamela Eloise Rowen was a privileged young girl coming up in the world when she met and fell in love with Havelock at a dingy little cafe on the west side of town. Much to her parent’s disapproval, she fell pregnant with their first child and married Havelock.
Pamela supports any cause her hot-headed husband puts his mind to, but secretly would rather stay at home and cook, clean and garden. Her family means the world to her, and she is good at looking after them, even if she is a little absent-minded at times.
Pamela would like nothing more than to have the Perfect Garden.

Pammy + Havelock’s oldest child is 18 year old Lewis Marley Rowen. He is brave, and like his father, incredibly hot-headed. Lewis is young and full of fun, earning himself the title amongst his friends as the party animal. Lewis does keep a good balance between partying and work, as he is a self-confessed workaholic.
Lewis has just been conscripted into the Simland army, to fight in the war in Vietnam. He is anxious, but a part of him is looking forward to the next great adventure in his life. His parents, on the other hand, are definitely not pleased with the government for drafting their pride and joy, especially when he is barely out of highschool.

The first daughter in the Rowen family is 15 year old Cassidy Love. She is an ambitious little feminist and vegetarian. She loves the outdoors, and often joins her friends in protesting against anythignshe can chain herself to. She likes to live frugally, and there is always a pile of coupons on the table from helping her family save money. Cassidy has even burnt her training-bra, much to her mother’s dismay, who went out and promptly bought her a new one.

Lennon Cosmic Rowen is the youngest son in the family and heavily influenced by the pop culture of the day. He looks up to his sister Cassidy, and assisted in the bra burning fiasco. He is friendly, and is good at mooching things off even complete strangers. Lennon is very intrigued by the communes springing up all over the neighbourhood, and thinks he might like to start his own one day. Is Lennon the next big cult leader?

The baby of the family is Revolution Miracle. Miraculous in that she was born during a time when the family and their friends felt they were fighting a losing battle against the government. Artistic at even such a young age, Revolution is seen as the inspiration the Rowen’s needed to keep fighting. Of course all this pressure at being a golden child has made Revolution quite neurotic…
